The custom of making Huabobohas lasted for more than 300 years in Jiaodong Region, Shandong Province. During important events such as traditional festivals, weddings and funerals, skillful local farmers will make different types of Huabobo, which symbolize different meanings.

　　Huabobo is mainly made of wheat flour by fermentation and handmade. According to different uses, it will be shaped like dragon, phoenix, fish, peach, pomegranate and twelve zodiac signs, giving it different beautiful meanings. Nowadays, various colors of fruit and vegetable juice are applied to the decoration of Huabobo, which brings people more beautiful appearance and taste. At the same time, it is more healthy and safer to eat.

　　There are more than 200 Huabobo production and processing subjects in Wendeng District, Weihai City, with an annual output value of 300 million yuan, which effectively drives the employment and income of local farmers. Wendeng Huabobo has become a rich industry.

　　Now this custom has been included in the intangible cultural heritage list of Shandong Province. Wendeng Huabobo is an important representative of Jiaodong Huabobo culture. Therefore, Wendeng is awarded the title of "Shandong Huabobo Town".
