　　7月22日，我们迎来夏季最后一个节气——大暑。

　　On July 22nd, we welcome the last solar term of summer - Great Heat.

　　此时节，是一年中最热时段。

　　This is the hottest period of the year.

　　古人这样解释大暑：“六月中……暑，热也，就热之中分为大小，Ancient people explained the Great Heat period that : "In the sixth month... heat, indeed, is divided into minor and major,

　　月初为小，月中为大，今则热气犹大也。”

　　minor is the beginning of the month, major is in the middle of the month. Now the heat is still intense."

　　热在三伏，大暑一般在三伏里的中伏阶段。

　　The heat is in the three hottest periods of the year, and the Great Heat is usually in the middle period of the three hottest periods.

　　古人将节气作为农耕时间的驿站，把大暑分为三候：

　　Ancient people used solar terms as milestones in agriculture and divided Great Heat into three periods:

　　一候腐草为萤。

　　First period: Rotten grass turns into fireflies.

　　大暑头五天，萤火虫卵化而出，

　　In the first five days of Great Heat, fireflies hatch from their eggs.

　　所以古人误认为萤火虫是腐草变成的，

　　Ancient people mistakenly thought that fireflies came from rotten grass,

　　这一观点到南宋才得以纠偏，此时最宜轻罗小扇扑流萤；

　　a belief corrected in the Southern Song Dynasty. It is the best time for catching fireflies with delicate fans.

　　二候土润溽暑。大暑的第二个五天，天气闷热，阴气渐长，土地开始潮湿；

　　Second period: The earth becomes damp and thermal. In the second five days, the weather is hot and humid, with an increasing in yin energy, and the land begins to become moist.

　　三候大雨时行。大暑节气的最后五天，时常有雷雨出现。

　　Third period: Heavy rains occur. In the last five days of Great Heat, thunderstorms often occurs.

　　这急切且量大的雨势会削减暑天的闷热，天气逐渐多了几丝秋的影子。

　　The sudden and heavy rains will reduce the summer's heat, hinting the coming of autumn.

　　在齐鲁大地上，大暑作为一年中最热时节，花开极妍，草木葱翠，瓜果丰盛，万物丰盈。

　　In the land of Qi and Lu, Great Heat marks the hottest time of the year, with flowers in full bloom, lush greenery, and abundant fruits and vegetables.

　　恰好也是喜热农作物生长最快时，玉米拔节孕穗，大豆开花结荚，枝头苹果微红，

　　It is also the peak growing season for heat-loving crops: Corn is jointing and earing, soybeans are blooming and setting pods, and apples are turning red on the branches.

　　农人们后背汗湿如泼，心中欢喜渐起，只因丰收在望。

　　Farmers, drenched in sweat, feel joy rising in their hearts as the harvest approaches.

　　大暑最热时，人们会以各种方式乘凉避暑，

　　During the hottest days of Great Heat, people find various ways to cool down:

　　“浮甘瓜于清泉，沉朱李于寒水”，于星斗满天之夜之下感凉，都是盛夏乐趣。

　　"Floating sweet melons in clear springs, sinking red plums in cold water," and enjoying the coolness under starry skies, embracing the joys of midsummer.

　　好在物极必反，万物生发有时数，大暑热到极致，伏藏的秋意，正蓄势待发。

　　Fortunately, extremes lead to change, and the cycle of growth follows its rhythm. As Great Heat reaches its peak, the latent signs of autumn are poised to emerge.
